How to choose makeup brushes and how to clean them: the guide designed for you
They are excellent allies for those who want precision make-up that lasts a long time. To make the most of them, however, it is important to know how to choose them and understand how to use them. In fact, there are many make-up brushes and each one has its own particularities. Let's find out together in this article. techbizcenter
Makeup brushes: why use them
First of all: attention to quality . Our advice is to invest
in a few basic but good brushes . The advantages of makeup brushes ? They
allow the products to be blended in the
best possible way, giving precise and
defined results for make-up compared to
the use of fingertips. Finally, they are hygienic and safe (if washed properly after use). But how to
choose them? We help you by dividing makeup brushes into multiple categories.
Make-up brushes for foundation and face
Let's start with the first type of brushes: those for the
foundation . There are different types: cat's tongue , buffer and kabuki to
name a few. The cat's tongue brush is ideal for those who want a precise and
complete application; you can use it with all foundations, from liquid to
creamy. The buffer (or stippling brush ), on the other hand, is used with the
creamiest and most fluid foundationsand allows for light to medium coverage.
The plus of this product is the natural effect on the face and ease of use, but
be careful to apply the product evenly to avoid stains. To use it at its best,
dab the foundation on the face with circular movements: the finish will be very
similar to that of the airbrush.
Blushes, highlighters and contouring
For blush , however, we recommend a medium-sized angled
brush - perfect for contouring and applying to the cheekbones. Nothing prevents
you from choosing a flat and rounded brush for quick use on the cheekbones. The
ideal makeup brush for highlighter , on the other hand, has a fan shape that
ensures a modular and soft application. How to apply the concealer ? In this
case, go straight to the small cat's tongue brush , for detail work, or
slightly larger when you want to apply the concealer to a more diffuse area of
the face. Finally, the powder brush: opt for a product with long
and very soft fibers with which to dab the powder throughout the T-zone
and on the cheeks . This type of brush will help you to apply thin layers of product - so you will be able to dose it at best -
all over the face evenly. In addition, a good powder brush can also be used to
blend the bronzer. Ever without a perfectly
made contouring ? Choose a flat brush , if you want a more pronounced result,
on the contrary conical to better blend the product in the desired area.
Eye makeup brushes
This is perhaps the most populous category: there are many
brushes based on the effect you want to achieve on the eyelids. To apply the
eyeshadow (powder or cream) on the mobile one, we recommend a thin cat's tongue
brush , while for the shades a medium brush with soft and long and slightly
pointed bristles is preferable . For details, however, you need an elongated or
angular-shaped brush , such as the one for eyeliner that allows you to apply
the product with maximum precision along the eye contour and in the area
closest to the lashes. This type of brush is also great for eyebrow makeup (in
this case, however, a brush with a pipe cleaner is preferable to comb them with
precision).
Lip makeup brushes
To apply the
lipstick you will need a
precision cat's tongue brush with a blunt tip or a brush with compact and flat
bristles. Both types will allow you to stratify the color according to the
desired intensity.
How to wash them
After use, it is essential to clean the brushes because
makeup residues, dust, sebum and bacteria that are harmful to the health of the
skin accumulate between the bristles. If you have some time, we advise you to
wet the bristles with water (avoiding the handle and the metal part), add a few
drops of detergent (soap is fine too) and pass, rotating, the brush over the
hand where foam will form. Finally, rinse under running water. If you see that
the brush is particularly dirty, repeat the operation at least a couple of
times. Then dry the bristles in the air, while avoiding contact with the
surfaces. Another faster method, widely used by make-up artists, is to rub the
bristles on a cloth moistened with alcohol. (you can also use a spray) and then
let them dry.
